General Intercessions
Second Sunday of Lent
March 16, 2025

Presider: Today is Holy to the Lord your God. Do not be sad and do not weep, for today is Holy to our Lord. Do not be saddened this day, for rejoicing in the Lord must be your strength.

Deacon/ Lector/ Cantor: Please respond: “Lord, Save the People you have redeemed”

1.That Pope Francis, Bishop __________, clergy, religious, lay leadership, and catechists are examples of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving to their assemblies, we pray...

2. That our parish seeks both collectively and individually the poor and benefit them by providing resources acquired by fasting for nourishment, shelter, clothing, health care, and education, we pray...,

3. That Christians are lifted up from fear and suffering by understanding the message of the Transfiguration that fortified the faithful for living the way of Jesus, we pray...

4. That our Church recognize first responders, military service personnel, doctors, nurses, and educators as continuing the work of the Christ in our communities and nation, we pray...

5. That Christians in our community read the Scriptures and meditate on the meaning and encouragements contained in the Hebrew Scriptures, in the Gospels, and in the Apostolic writings, we pray...

6. That wars in Ukraine, the Middle East, especially Gaza, on the African Continent, and violence in Central America be the focus of diplomacy and peace and truth councils, we pray...

7. That we witness in our relationships the conquering Cross of the Lord and understand victory over evil as a sharing in the Resurrection of the Lord, we pray...

8. That those who died this past week (list here) and those approaching death’s door to eternity are encouraged in faith and welcomed by Jesus. That the intention of this Mass, (list here) _________ is (are) remembered in our prayers, we pray...

9. Let us raise to God our needs and concerns of hand, mind, and heart: (pause) Let us place these intentions on the altar with the financial gifts we offer for the needy of our community, we pray...

Presider: May your grace, O Lord, transform us into tireless cultivators of the seeds of the Gospel. May those seeds transform from within both humanity and the whole cosmos in the sure expectation of a new heaven and a new earth, when, with the powers of evil vanquished, your glory will shine eternally.

Response: Amen.
