General Intercessions

Third Sunday

January 26, 2025

Presider: God is the Father of all creation. Each bit of creation is an expression of God just as the Word is an expression of the speaker. The Father loves the Word, his Son. This Father loves each of us. In our prayers we form a relationship with the Father as a lover speaks to the beloved. With confidence, then, lift our hearts to Our Father in prayer.

Deacon/ Lector/ Cantor: Please respond:
“Lord, hear our prayer.”

1.That Pope Francis, Bishop Luis, clergy, religious, lay leadership, and catechists complete their work with love for every person, we pray...

2. That the darkness of hatred and violence toward God’s creation is recognized as disrespect for the Creator Father, we pray...

3. That the physical sick and mentally challenged are treated by our parish members with respect and care as if it were their own bodies and spirits that are in danger, we pray...

4. That our nation’s leadership and representatives understand their responsibility to care for those in need of support, assistance, and care as though it were their bodies, minds, and spirits that are damaged, we pray...

5. That those whose careers are service of others, clergy, religious, educators, first responders, military, and healers serve others with respect, loving kindness, and the understanding all persons are members of the Body of Christ, we pray...

6. That parents and educators support faith based schools, public schools, and organizations promoting learning and social justice, we pray...

7. That political organizations understand their charism is to be focused for the common good; that pursuit of personal power and wealth are forms of idolatry, we pray...

8. That those who died this past week and those about to die are welcomed into the heavenly kingdom by Jesus Christ, our brother. That the intention of this Mass, (list here) _________ is (are) remembered in our prayers at this Mass and during this week, we pray...

9. Let us add our personal intentions in silence: (pause) Let us place these intentions on the altar with our gifts to the community, we pray...

Presider: Father, your Son, your Word, came into the world to bring a unity of respect, and service based on respect and love of self, others, and of You. In this Jubilee Year, lead us into a journey of Hope away from despair which is expressed in violence, in idolatry, and in disrespect for creation. We ask this of you in the name of your Son who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, now and forever.

Response: Amen.
